How to choose the best laptop/pc for your needs + Excercise 3.2.

Nowadays everyone needs a computer/laptop, but they all need it for different reason, Some people need it for profession so they'd need it for like publication and stuff, others may need it for Gaming or anything else... So how do you decide which Laptop/Computer is best for you? You would have to look at the features of the computer of the laptop, so features like the :

  • What the Device includes : - LCD at Screen, DVDRW, Webcam, Touch sensative screen.#
  • Hard Disk Drive (HDD) size - Multimedia via Video, Images, graphics and MP3 Audio.
  • Performance - Processor Speed, e.g. 1.66GHZ and Size of Ram (Random Acces memory) E.g. 4GB.
  • Connectivity - The range of the phiperical equipment the computer can connect to through its interfaces such as USB/HDMI, Wi-fi, Bluetooth.
  • Future Proofing - You do not want to buy something that will be out of date and unuseable very quickly.
  • Upgradablilty - The games you may want to play may need a faster processor or you may need a larger hard disk drive; you needs to be able to upgrade easily as it would be too expensive to keep buying new computers.
  • Support - You may need help with setting up and using his devices, or they may break down and need repairing, you should check with friends, magazines and on the internet which suppliers offer the best support.
Task 3.2

"Jamie will be able to use media player software on his laptop to listen to the MP3 music files he has downloaded. He could, however, buy a portable media player such as an iPod, Microsoft Zune or one of the many others on the market."

The advantages of buying a media player like the ones listed above are that they are all from trusted company's, The iPod is made by Apple

VoIP and the basics of it.

VoIP just basically means running a telephone service over broadband. This means that you will be able to talk via the internet.

VoIP is a abbreviation for Voice over internet protocols
Here are some of the Basic advantages and disadvantage to it:

Advantages - Its is Cheaper or sometimes free to other VoIP users. Its much more flexable - You can Change your destination and keep the same number.VoIP can be intergrated with Emails and other application: E.g. Web browser, Web Directories, etc.. You can do video calls for free in some programs and chat for free. You can talk to more then one person at one time meaning its better then phones as it has more feautures. You can also sends files across the net to the other user meaning that you wouldnt have to travel far to deliver something to them.

Disadvantages - Using VoIP means using your bandwidth. Applications that lets you use VoIP, E.G. Skype, might only let you do skype to skype for free and charge you for the rest.
